We are Pack 703 based in Mission Viejo at Mount of Olives Church. Our pack has been scouting since 1979! Our amazing, nondenominational, pack serves Del Cerro Elementary and Del Lago Elementary, De Portola, Montevideo and more. Cub scouts are for children in grades: Kindergarten through 5th grade and new scouts can join at any time at any level! We currently have many scouts in our pack as well as many great parents who volunteer to lead the Scouts. Pack 703 takes pride in being a family friendly pack which hosts dens made up of boys and girls!
Our cub scouts do many fun and exciting activities all year long. In the winter, they shoot homemade paper rockets using air compressors. In the early spring, they race carved pinewood cars in our annual Pinewood Derby. Scout families have the opportunity to camp locally twice a year too! There are also opportunities to hike, bike, and give back to others & our community through service projects.
Scouts are split into 'dens' according to their grade. We have Kindergarten Lions, 1st grade Tigers, 2nd grade Wolves, 3rd grade Bears, 4th Webelos, and 5th grade Arrow of Lights. Some dens meet at a local park while others meet at our Charter Organization's NCC building 2 -3 times a month. Scouts work on achieving rank advancements by learning about their country, the environment, their community, how to help others, how to be a good friend and have good sportsmanship. They also learn to respect their community, others and themselves. Sometimes den meetings include a field trip, guest speaker or other fun outdoor activity!
Our pack gives back to the community by helping our schools with flag ceremonies and be working on city conservation projects. Our Scouts visit senior citizens living in neighborhood facilities at Christmas time and sing carols & help hand out gifts. In the spring, they help package meals through the "kids feeding kids" program.
Dens do not meet in the summer, but there are still many fun pack activities for Scouts and their families including: movie nights, tide-pools, picnics, and our much loved kayaking adventure. Cub Scout Day Camp at O'Neill Regional Park or OSO park is a fun week long activity available each summer too.
Safety is a huge priority within our Pack. All of our leaders have been background checked and fingerprinted by the state of California and have received over 4 hours of youth protection training in addition to scout leadership training. Parents play a huge role in our pack and no scout is left unattended at any function or event.

How to Join - FAQ
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How can I get more information about Cub Scout 703?
~ You can contact the Pack's Committee Chair at pack703@gmail.com to get information about our pack emailed to you. Emails are returned in 1-3 days. You can also attend a Pack meeting to see what Cub Scouts is all about! This is a good place to meet other scouts, have questions answered and jump into the fun activity we have planned!
When can my child join Cub Scouts?
~ The great thing about Cub Scouts is that your child can join AT ANY TIME during the year! We encourage scouts to join in the Fall as the program follows the school year, but new scouts have joined us in Winter or Spring and enjoyed all that our Pack has to offer!
How does Cub Scouts work?
~ Each grade level is a different "rank". For example 2nd grade is the rank of Wolf. Each Wolf scout works with their den (a leader and scouts of the same grade) to earn belt-loops and patches. If they earn all that is required of the program (outlined in their handbook) by summer, they officially earn the patch for their rank. If they haven't, that is okay! They still get to bridge to the next rank in the Fall and start on new exciting requirements. Pack 703 keeps the focus on fun and participation is what we encourage most.
What if my new scout isn't interested in earning belt-loops and patches?
~ That is okay! Scouting is about making new friends, learning important skills and HAVING FUN! We only ask that you participate in den and pack activities. The program is age appropriate and by attending events your scout will naturally earn what they need. Also, we find that when scouts see their peers being recognized, it encourages them to do their best so they can be rewarded as well!
What if my scout wants to earn everything!
~ Cub Scouts is flexible! Den and Pack meetings set up opportunities for scouts to earn their requirements; such as a camping trip which can count towards a hike requirement and campfire program requirement. However, scouts can earn more within their rank at home at any time. As long as your scout and their leader can discuss what the scout learned and the scout can show they have completed the task, the skies the limit!
What if we join in the middle of the year, will my scout be able to earn their rank?
~ Our den leaders quickly catch up new scouts so that they aren't behind and every month our pack has exciting activities which offer opportunities for scouts to catch up! Scouts can also earn many requirements with their families such as: a short hike, visiting a fire station etc. We have had scouts join in April and still achieve their rank patch by June.
